The bay at which Villefranche-sur-Mer is located serves a natural shaped harbour. It offers shelter for around 30 yachts spread over the bay. On the north east side of the bay there is a sandy area where you can anchor. On the west side of the bay there are a few moorings close to the town, however these are usually in use by local boat owners. The most protected anchorage spots are located in the southeast corner. There is a high chance of swell except with north to northeast wind.
